Project Origins

Our Mission

The Plants Project is a website that aims to provide users with information about plants and their origins. Our goal is to educate users about the importance of plants and how they contribute to the environment.

The Plants Team is a group of students from the Universtiy of Maryland CMSC435 class. The Plants team seeks to increase connections to the University of Maryland (UMD) landscape and foster an appreciation for the biodiversity living on campus by sharing the stories plants have to tell through location-aware technology that provides education on where plants live. These connections will encourage people to get out and explore campus and enrich their understanding of what they are missing in their surroundings while they go from one place to another. In collaboration with our stakeholders, we plan to create a product to scale and survive in the ever-changing landscape around the university. The team aims to produce a user experience that is educational and interactive in nature, encouraging users to want to learn about their environment.
